Texas Scramble at Mosa Trajectum, Sponsored by 1car1. This was our first visit to Mosa Trajectum, mainly due to the rumours about the difficulty factor of the course.  On arrival we were greeted by cheerful and helpful staff at the Caddie Masters shop and the organization of tickets, cards and buggies went very smoothly. The committee decided a Texas Scramble format was probably the best option for our initiation to this course. The general condition of the greens was very good and the winning score of a net 55 indicates that the putts certainly dropped if hit on line. We had a pretty good turnout for this event, with 12 teams competing for the honours.

This event was also very generously sponsored by 1car1 (www.1car1.com), who kindly provided some excellent prizes for the winning teams, bottles of wine for all the lady competitors, and also some very welcome snacks at the end of the round – not forgetting the free golf ball given to all competitors before the round started by Phil Davies and Rob Gillespie.
Unfortunately yours truly lost this prized possession on the second hole!
1car1 is a UK based car rental company with some 10,000 vehicles in their fleet.  They can arrange for a vehicle to be made available from any of the UK airports.  They boast the lowest rental charges of any large group and are certainly worth trying if you need a car when going back to the UK.  Their central booking office number is: 0044 113 387 5865.

The winning team and the runners-up were a bit of a family affair, with our president Frank Wigley leading the winning team of Val Curbishley, Graham Jones, and Phil ‘The sponsor’ Davies. The runners-up, captained by Bill Curbishley, featured Mary Wigley, Steve Locke and Richard Hoyle. The winners came in with an amazing score of gross 66, with three birdies on each nine. My own team were immediately behind Frank’s team and we had an idea that something special was happening when we spotted lots of high-fives, hugs etc. on various greens. It should be pointed out that things did not look too good for Frank on the first tee (Olive Course) when he proceeded to belt it out of bounds on the left – things obviously improved from there on. It was very noticeable that all five-lady players figured well in the results at Mosa – I wonder why? Maybe it was something to do with the position of those red tees girls! I did note however, that the ladies had negative slope on their handicaps to compensate for this advantage.
Comments after the game indicated that the majority of players enjoyed this course, despite some of the daunting tee shots, and would be happy to play there again. Full results were as follows: 1st Val Curbishley, Graham Jones, Frank Wigley, Phil (Sponsor) Davies54.875 (net)
