Hi-5 ProTour - Alto Real February 2008
A misty start greeted the early starters on the final day of the Hi5 Pro Tour Altor real open.
Then Spanish sun soon cleared the air. It soon became clear to all that the course would play tougher than in previous rounds. This was reinforced by seeing today’s best result of 67 scored by two players Canadian Oliver Tubb and Spaniard Carlos Aguilar Quesada.

Meanwhile the leading contenders were having a real battle over the well-presented Altor real layout. The 3 shot lead over the field from Carlos Garcia Simarro was eaten away by the turn. And the lead was now being fought over by Vincente Blasquez, Steen Ottosen, Carlos Aguilar and Will Besseling.
In the heat of battle Steen slipped away on the 14th hole leaving the outcome placed in the hands of Vincente or Will. Not much could separate them coming down the stretch and as such a playoff was inevitable. The pair, coincidentally, holed similar 3 metre nerve tingling putts to put themselves in the play off.
The fearsome “ Dave Thomas designed “ Par 4 eighteenth was chosen as the play off hole. Three attempts were made to decide this bullish fight until Dutchman Will Besseling took the coveted trophy with his 4th straight par on this hole today. Next week the Hi5 Pro Tour marches onto the Roda resort course where the field is increasing from week to week. As usual, spectators are more than welcome to follow and witness some of Europes future golfing talents.
